About Ron

"Photography to me is the art

of interpreting of what I see in front of me,

rather than documenting it."

Hi,

I’m Ron, a Dutchman born in Amsterdam however, raised in South Africa for a number of years. After returning to The Netherlands I studied photography and graphic design/management.

Before moving to Scotland in 2007, I worked mostly in pre-press and graphic design alongside photography. My career involved working for national and international organisations and artists, like those who studied at The Rijksakademie Voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam (The Art College in The Netherlands).

In 2015, I was lucky enough to make photography my full-time job (again) and opened The Shed Gallery in Kinloch Rannoch, Scotland. My main subject being landscapes as we live in a beautiful part of Scotland. In 2018, I passed the gallery on to Ian Biggs (photographer) who still runs it successfully to this day.

Having moved to Suffolk, my photography became a more personal journey with 'street photography' as my main focus. I am now back in Kinloch Rannoch, where I will return to, mainly abstract, interpretational landscape photography and graphic interpretations of the landscape around us.

My work will be on show in Rannoch Studio, Gallery and Coffee shop.
